I really don't usually hate on technology. It's just a paradigm thing.

It's like if I was used to going downtown to check the news and suddenly people were like 'no, you should get a "subscription" and some guy will come to your house and put news in your mailbox' and I would have been like NO XD

I think the benefit of a podcast being in an RSS feed is so the program just comes to you, is updated automatically, and all you have to do is dump it to your media player.

No web browsing required.

Yup. I love technology. I'm one of those people excited about the prospect of plugging the internet into my brain and can't wait to welcome our inevitable robot overlords. But I only love technology that actually makes my life better and/or easier and is FUN. RSS feeds are none of the above.

That's just not the way I use the internet, though. The only sites I visit regularly are message boards. The only 'consolidated' thingy of any kind that I ever look at is my LJ friends page. And that's just because it's a convenient (and less intrusive) substitute for people emailing their friends what's up.

Yeah. RSS is okay these days.

I remember trying to figure out what the fuck RSS did back in... 2003? I hated it. Creating an RSS feed when you don't know what the fuck it's supposed to do is worse than trying to pull an mp3 from one. I figured it out but I don't think I ever even used it.

I still have an mp3 of "It is the Year 2005" on my desktop for that never made 01/01/2005 RFC.

Damn, I am getting old.
