Oh man! Can't believe I didn't post at all last year. Time has been flyin like crazy.

Haven't been up to much. My powers have been used for procrastination. I did finally get a better car, a silver Scion XB, so I can go on proper road trips. So far I have only really gone on road trips to see Mom & Dad. Mom's recovering from a double mastectomy, so I'm glad to spend some time with her & supply hugs etc. Also she makes me cookies.

Favorite movie of last year was Paranorman. Haven't watched any TV in yonks. Addicted to Tumblr and Lord of the Rings Online. Continually shocked at the number of Limbaugh-quality conservatives on in-game chat in LOTRO. Always thought book-fantasy was a liberal's venue. I mean, I'd understand if it was a Wizard's First Rule MMO, but Lord of the Rings? Maybe I'm just out of touch. Or maybe the momma's basement MMO effect is stronger than the original genre effect.

Been playing plenty of tabletop D&D as well, which has been fun. We usually have at least one party member playing over Skype. Oh and one of the team got everybody presents and she gave me a Windstone baby dragon! So my life is basically complete.

The house finally actually foreclosed, but nobody bought it so it's Real-Estate-Owned at the moment, which means I still won't see the end of it for a while. But at least I'm no longer responsible for the safety/upkeep of the actual property.

My cat just figured out he can sit on TOP of his doghouse. HOW EXCITING! I have to admit I love how he comes running when I get home from work. Hi kitty! <3

Yes yes! I want to come see you muchly. I will start buggin you about that when I can see what I can do about some decent blocks of free time. They're hiring some new guys at my work so I should have a better shot at getting a decent number of mid-week days off.

Liiith! Good to see you around, glad to hear you've been able to spend quality time with your mom. And yay for Windstone dragons and kitty!

I tried out LOTRO eons ago... sorry to hear about the number of conservatives. I think certain kinds of fantasy fiction/RPGs can attract obnoxiously vocal folks of various political persuasions... although now that I think about it, the one local couple I know who played LOTRO were also on the conservative side of the spectrum, I think...

Hi Quezzie! I am hermitish as usual but I always enjoy reading your posts and toy pics and tales of kitties and truculent elliptical machines. I've got a few Monster High dolls and am staring kinda longingly at the bratzillas with the glass eyes. They're awfully pretty. But I... I'm not really a doll person AM I?? DON'T I LIKE ROBOTS??

Oh man, LOTRO. It's not constant or anything but every few days I'll look at game chat and it's all 'they're coming for our guns' and 'closet muslim everyone KNOWS he isn't really a citizen but nobody will do anything about it' and I.. Just.. really you guys? Really?

I do like a little friendly argument though and have chatted with a prosthelytizer or two in game... They seem unused to speaking to atheists that aren't 15 year old, reactionary, angry, unhappy people, so they usually don't have any good talking points ready for me. "Oh well then. Have a good day! Try not to worry too much about all the nice people in hell!"

The actual play experience is usually pretty great though, people are polite, ripoffs are rare, and more often than not people you run into are happy to join up for co-ops. The other day I ran into a couple strangers and we ran through a whole area of the game map together, ran into one of them again the next day and did another quest chain. T'was fun.

Split the difference and collect only robot dolls? :D (omg it is like they peeked into my brain to create Robecca Steam. Steampunk Robot of Colour! With BLUE HAIR AND A ROCKET PENGUIN!)

I wish the NoviStars dolls were a little cheaper, because I love their goofy gimmicks (light-up bodies! goo in the legs! stretchy multiple arms!) but would like a little more articulation for that price point. Coincidentally, that is how I feel about a lot of Transformers and action figures as well!

I am patiently waiting for the blue-haired mermaid-themed Bratzilla doll to show up in my area. Looks like they're also adding a vampire to the mix (oh how original). In non-Bratz/non-Monster High news, I am very curious about a Toy Fair invite I got for PlayHut's Mystixx dolls... apparently they're planning more releases after the two-faced Vampires currently on shelves. I will admit to having a soft spot for really crazy, out-there doll concepts.

Your stories of LOTRO kind of make me nostalgic for my World of Warcraft days. There's something delightfully "we are living in the FUTURE, guys!" about logging on and teaming up with strangers from around the world (some of whom may not even speak the same language!) and defeating monsters together. On the other hand, it sounds like LOTRO's general chat is a bit classier/more mature than WoW's equivalent (the good parts were good, the bad parts were stereotypical teenaged-mentality homophobia and rape jokes), even at its worst.

And good on ya for engaging folks and hopefully giving them a bigger world view! I've occasionally giggled at Religious Fanart Tumblrs and then felt bad that so many of these well-intentioned kids think that atheists are:
1. only Atheists because they are mad at/disappointed by God
2. totally into Satan because raaaa there is no God, Lucifer our Lord reign over us etc.
