Work & Stealage

So hey. Remember my last post? November 15? About twelve hours later, while we were at work, my house was broken into through a forced window and robbed, most likely by one of the neighborhood kids. Three things were stolen:

My PS2. (ouch.)
A watercooler jug full of change, probably $50 or so. (aw, man.)
Browning. (He was in a glass front case in my room in gun mode, next to Megatron. They took Megs out too, but left him behind, along with kid-sized finger smudges in the dust. WTF!! I'll never find another Browning...)

So, crap. Given the super specific stealing of Browning, out of all the crap in my house (including other, better model guns in much plainer sight) I don't really see how this could have been anyone but the kids who live next to us. They deny it (naturally) and I don't really care that much to start a fight over it. As burglaries go, this one was fairly polite.

I'm still on full time at the beach, and got a friend hired on to pick up the days I don't work (it sucked there for a while, two weeks w/ no days off, argh tired). So it's going to be ultra yay. We already started fixing up the equipment room into an awesome hangout.

Naw, I didn't file a report. I couldn't see the point. It's not like I'd want the kids in trouble anyway, I'd just want my crap back. They didn't wreck anything except a window screen - they even took out my DVD from the PS2 and left it behind.

OMG yes!! I just got it! I'm all flaility yay! I'm going to be reading through the sharpie comix and such at work. And the other stuff very great too. In fact I have the shirt on right now. *hugs* thank youuuuu!

OH we could do far, far worse.

We could say that they're doing a voice recording audition/casting call for the next TF movie there, and watch the masses descend. Or that someguy is getting rid of his entire TF collection - FOR FREE. COME ONE, COME ALL - and then you can sit and take photos of the carnage. All you need is a fishing line to try to snag the Browning out of the rubble.

Heheh, yeah, the thing is, Browning used to be out in my main display case and I moved him & Megs to my room because every time these kids came over they would begbegbeg to play with them.

We are probably talking about a like 8 year old kid here. I wouldn't say he's a bad kid so much as he's just a punk. I actually kind of like him, apart from this stealing my crap stuff.

The thing is, if SOMETHING resembling "consequences" doesn't happen, there's an even bigger chance it will happen again, or that they'll do worse things as they grow up. btw, hi!

I agree, but I don't see what consequences I can apply to them. What on earth would the cops do? Search the kids' house for a toy gun? I'd be way more worried what they'd do if I called the cops on them than what they'd do if I just tell them 'hey, ok, I know it was you guys, so quit it.'

Stealing usually isn't personal. They just wanted this stuff that badly. I've swiped some shit in my day. I'm glad I didn't get cops called on me. I'm just paying it forward.
